GRP production

Due to NAO specifics regional economics has single-industry character based on natural resources and is oriented first of all to oil and gas complex. GRP growth in the region directly depends on the volume of oil and gas production.

According to the Rosstat data the volume of GRP in 2013 was 4 mln rubles per each resident of the NAO. In 2014 GRP will be 4 mln rubles per capita (174.9 bln rubles in total), in 2015 – 4.2 mln rubles per capita (growth up to 183.6 bln rubles is expected).

Industrial production

In January-November 2015 industrial production index made up 107.1% compared with the same period of 2014. Production growth is registered in “extraction of minerals” (7.4%) and “manufacturing” (3%), “production and distribution of electric power, gas and water” decreased (4.7%).

In January-November 2015 enterprises of the NAO shipped own-produced goods, executed works and rendered services to the value of 176,264.8 mln rubles in current prices (the same period of 2014 – 141,603.9 mln rubles). Structure of shipped industrial products: extraction of minerals – 91.7 %, manufacturing – 7.0%, production and distribution of electric power, gas and water – 1.3%.

 Extraction of minerals

Natural resources potential of the Nenets Autonomous Okrug is notable for considerable reserves of hydrocarbons (oil, natural gas, gas condensate) and is the basis for sustainable long-term development of production sphere of the region.

In January-November 2015 extraction industry shipped own-produced goods, executed works and rendered services to the value of 161,645.0 mln rubles (120.5% compared with the same period of 2014).

Production index of minerals extraction made up 107.4% compared with the same period of 2014.

In January-November 2015 13.3 mln tons of oil including gas condensate was produced, which is 107.7% compared with the same period of 2014.

Manufacturing

In January-November 2015 manufactures shipped own-produced goods, executed works and rendered services to the value of 12,363.2 mln rubles (2.5 times higher compared with the same period of 2014).

Production index of manufacturing made up 103.0% compared with the same period of 2014.

In January – November 2015 there was produced: bread and flour products – 2.0 thousand tons (93.3% of 2014 level), meat and  slaughterhouse by-products – 38.8 tons (87.5% of 2014 level), sausages – 0.6 thousand tons (97,7% of 2014 level), fish, processed and canned fish products – 10.1 thousand tons (102.5% of 2014 level), whole-milk products – 2.3 thousand tons (117.6% of 2014 level), butter – 49 tons (100% of 2014 level).

Production and distribution of electric power, gas and water

In January-November 2015 the volume of shipped goods, executed works and rendered services made up 2,256.6 mln rubles (83.4% compared with the same period of 2014).

The index of production and distribution of electric power, gas and water made up 95.3% compared with the same period of 2014.

In January – November 2015 1.3 bln kWh of electric power (0.1% higher of the same period of 2014) and 0.6 Gcal of heat (2.8% higher) were produced in the region.

Investments

The volume of capital investments from all sources of financing (companies without small and medium-sized business entities) in January – November 2015 accounted to 77,603.3 mln rubles, 131.4% of the same period of 2014.

Mostly investments were made into the development of oil and gas fields. 98% of investments in January – November 2015 were the ones into minerals extraction (76,075.3 mln rubles, which is 132% of the same period of the previous year).

Construction

The volume of works performed using own resources in the territory of the region in January – November 2015 amounted to 5,475.7 mln rubles or 56.1% compared with the same period of 2014.

In January – November 2015 80 apartments with total area of 8.6 thousand square meters were commissioned in the NAO. That is 7.5% lower than in the same period of 2014. 6.5 thousand square meters were built by individuals using own and loan funds (85.1% compared with the same period of 2014).

Consumer’s market

In November 2015 consumer price index of goods and services amounted to 102.1% comparing with the one in October 2015. Foodstaffs had 3.9% rise in price, non-foods – 1.8%, services – 0.03%.

Consumer price index in November 2015 amounted to 113.5% of the one in December 2014. Prices increase amounted to: foodstaffs – 9.3%. non-foods – 19.5%, services – 11.3%.

The cost of minimum food set included into the “consumer goods basket” amounted to 5,359.55 rubles per person as of the end of November 2015 (1.8% growth compared with the previous month).

Retail turnover in all outlets in January – November 2015 amounted to 7,151.9 mln rubles which is 92.2% compared with the same period of 2014.

The share of foodstaffs including beverages and smokables was 68.1%, non-foods – 31.9%.

As of December 1, 2015 retail trading companies had the inventory level of goods in the amount of 735.8 mln rubles or 95 days of trade.

Sales of catering arrangements in January – November 2015 amounted to 1,173.3 mln rubles or 90.5% compared with the same period of 2014.

Total volume of services rendered to the population in January – November 2015 amounted to 2,108.0 mln rubles which is 7.3% lower than in the same period of the previous year.

 Companies’ financial activity

According to preliminary data in January – November 2015 companies’ balanced financial result was 4.5 bln rubles in current prices (without small business entities, banks, insurance and budget organizations, as well as organizations with less than 15 employees). 64.4% of companies made 14.4 bln rubles profit, all the rest had negative earnings in the amount of 9.9 bln rubles.

Accounts payable as of the end of November 2015 was 16.9 bln rubles including 2 bln rubles of past-due accounts which is 11.9% of all accounts payable.

Accounts receivable as of the end of November 2015 was 16.4 bln rubles including 1.7 bln rubles of past-due accounts or 10.4% of all accounts receivable.

Agriculture

According to preliminary data total output of all agricultural producers in January – November 2015 amounted to 668.9 bln rubles in current prices or 93.9% compared with the same period of 2014.  

In January – December 2015 farms of all categories produced 2,427 tons of cattle and bird for slaughter or 18% less than in January – December 2014; 3,214.4 tons of milk (1.9% more); 90,000 eggs (642.9% to the level of the previous year).

Cow productivity in agricultural organizations amounted to 4,781 kg of milk (228 kg growth).

Cattle stock as of December 31, 2015 is 1,472 (2% more than in 2014), out of them 701 cows (4.8% more), 86 sheep and goats (12.2% less), 32 pigs (6.7% more).

Transport

Transport complex of the region is represented by air transport, automobile transport, water (sea and river) transport and pipelines. 

The length of public automobile roads as of the beginning of 2015 is 382 km, 221 km of them are paved. 

Air transport is the key element of the regional transport infrastructure which provides both outer and the most part of inner flights. Air routes connect regional center Naryan-Mar with all settlements of the NAO, as well as with Archangelsk, Saint-Petersburg, Kirov, Syktyvkar, Moscow and Usinsk.

Water transport provides the possibility to deliver oversize cargos and non-perishable food items during navigation period. Inner water routes can also be used on a seasonal basis.

In January – November 2015 cargo turn-over of automobile transport declined 5.5% compared with the level of January – November 2014, passenger turn-over declined 4.3%.

Living standards

According to preliminary data, average money income per capita in January – November 2015 was 66,884.2 rubles (6.8% growth compared with the same period of 2014). Real disposable household income (income without compulsory payments corrected using consumer price index) per capita amounted to 94.8% (January – November 2015 compared with January – November 2014), 98.1% (November 2015 compared with October 2015).

Average monthly wages of corporate employees including small business entities in January – November 2015 amounted to 69,019.0 rubles. Comparing with the same period of 2014 it went up by 9.3%. In real terms (taking into account consumer price index) it went down by 4.5%.

The most significant growth of wages occurred in the sphere of fishery (41.4%), real estate operations, lease, services (37.6%), agriculture, hunting and forestry (18.7%).

Salaries payable as of December 1, 2015 amounted to 0.5 mln rubles (regarding the entities monitored by the Nenets statistical office).

Minimum subsistence level per capita in the 3rd quarter of 2015 amounted to 18,885 rubles. Comparing with the 2nd quarter of 2015 it increased by 1.8% (18,545 rubles in the 2nd quarter of 2015).

Labour and employment

The number of employees including part-time workers, service providers and other contractors in organizations (without small business entities) in January – November 2015 amounted to 29 thousand people or 100.3% compared with January – November 2014. 1.3 thousand people worked in these organizations as part-time workers or contractors.

The number of unoccupied people registered by the regional job center as of December 1, 2015 was 475; 340 of them have the status of unemployed.

According to preliminary data the official unemployment rate as of the end of November 2015 was 1.5% of economically active population.

At the end of November 2015 labour requirements of organizations accounted to 277 people, claim rate in public employment offices is 1.7 people per one position.

Demography

In January – November 2015 natural population growth in the region accounted to 319 people or 104.6% compared with the same period of 2014.Rate of natural increase – 8 persons per 1,000 people (3.9% higher than in the same period of 2014).

In January – November 2015 685 births were registered which is 5.2% higher than in the same period of 2014 (2014 – 651 births), birth rate – 17.2 persons per 1,000 people (4.2% higher than in the same period of 2014).

Death rate in January – November 2015 had 5.8% growth and accounted to 366 people (in 2014 – 346 people), mortality rate – 9.2 persons per 1,000 people (104.5% compared with the same period of 2014).

Circulatory diseases dominate in the structure of total mortality (179 people, 48.9% of deaths, 7.8% higher than in the previous year). The number of deaths caused by neoformations had 15.7% growth, caused by external reasons – 19.6% growth.

In January – November 2015 267 marriages and 158 divorces were registered. Comparing with the same period of 2014 the number of marriages is 2.9% lower, the number of divorces is 24.4% lower.

In January – November 2015 1,950 people arrived to the region, 1,842 people left the region, migration gain accounted to 108 people.
